Certificate in Composites Manufacturing

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I register for the wind turbine courses?
  A. There are no "wind turbine courses". MSTC has signed a Letter of Intent with Energy Composites Corp. to provide composites manufacturing training in an effort to build the skilled workforce needed for the start up of their new manufacturing facility planned for Wisconsin Rapids. MSTC is developing a Composites Certificate to meet their needs.
Q. What courses are currently offered in Composites Manufacturing?
  A. Currently, MSTC does not offer any classes specific to composites manufacturing. MSTC is working with Energy Composites Corp. to indentify the workforce skills needed for the production of composite, wind energy components. These courses will be part of a Composites Certificate.
Q. When will the composites courses begin?
  A. MSTC is working with Energy Composites Corp. to plan the timing of the courses with the start-up of the new manufacturing facility. Courses could start as early as Sept. 2009.
Q. How long is the training?
  A. The length of the training required to complete the entire certificate has not been determined yet. Current estimates for the completion of 12 technical credits are between 10 and 34 weeks.
Q. How much will the courses cost?
  A. the cost of the courses depends on the number of credits and the material fees for the certificate. The current cost for one credit is $101.50.
Q. Are there grants available to pay for the training?
  A. Since this is a custom certificate, it may not be eligible for federal financial aid. However, you may want to check with the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board to see if you are eligible for funding through their office.
