Course Description:
Nursing: Health Alterations is a 3 credit, 8-week, second
semester
nursing course.
This course elaborates upon the basic concepts of health and illness
as presented in Nursing Fundamentals. It applies theories of nursing
in the care of clients through the lifespan, utilizing problem
solving and
critical thinking. This course will provide an
opportunity to study conditions affecting different body systems and
apply therapeutic nursing interventions.
It will also introduce
concepts of leadership, team building, and scope of practice.

Description:
Nursing:
Introduction to Clinical Care Management is a 2 credit, 8 week,
second semester nursing course. This is a clinical
experience which applies nursing concepts and therapeutic nursing
interventions to groups of clients across the lifespan. It also
provides an introduction to leadership, management, and team
building.
This
course includes an acute care (hospital) surgical experience
which will provide the student with the opportunity to provide
postoperative care to one to two patients, readmit a patient to the
surgical floor after surgery / recovery room and provide discharge
instructions to surgical patients / families. This rotation
includes a surgical observation day in which the student is able to
follow a patient from admission to the operating room, recovery room
and back to a nursing unit. |
