Courses Taught By Melissa Nash
A
Delivery Mode: Face-to-Face on Stevens Point Campus
About the Course: Accounting I is a beginning
course designed to give you a strong foundation in accounting principles.
We’ll start with the basics of business transactions and how accountants
use a double-entry system (debits and credits) to keep track of these
transactions. Then we’ll
learn how to complete the entire accounting cycle
of recording transactions,
preparing financial statements, and “closing the books” for small,
single-owner service and merchandising businesses.
In the last third of the semester, we’ll cover a few accounting
concepts in more detail: accounting for inventories, cash, receivables,
and fixed assets, and we’ll learn how to use special journals.
