AITP Student Chapter Meeting

October 5, 2005

Room 162 

I. Call To Order

Joe Roppe called the meeting to order at 1:01 P.M.  Six members and the chapter advisor Sherri Wallerman were present.

Installation of Officers

Mike from Sentry insurance was present to install officers.  Joe Roppe was installed as president.  Juli Swenson was installed as Vice President.  Mary Hansen was installed as Secretary and Treasurer.  Linda Ashmore and Doug Spindler were installed as SAB representatives.  Doug Spindler and Ryan Schulfer were installed as Web Masters.

II. Minutes

The minutes were discussed and Helen Davis moved to accept the minutes and Doug Spindler seconded it.  Motion carried. 

III. Treasures’ Report

Sherri Wallerman and Joe Roppe presented the treasurer’s report.  Juli Swenson moved to accept the treasurer’s report and Doug Spindler seconded it.  Motion carried. 

IV.  Student Activities Board Report

Linda and Doug brought up Sam’s negativity about AITP.  Sherry explained the situation with Sam and last year’s National Conference. 

V. OLD BUSINESS 

Welcome New Members

Joe welcome new members. 

AITP Scholarship Revisions

Joe read the letter submitted to the MSTC Foundation for scholarship match.  Joe Roppe thought the GPA minimum might need to be less than the 3.5 proposed.  There was also discussion about the number of IT credits before being eligible for the scholarship.  The GPA for IT courses was changed to a minimum 3.33 from 3.5. 

Company Tour

The tour has been scheduled for November 4th at 10:00 a.m. at the Neenah paper mill.  An email will be sent with details.

VI.  NEW BUSINESS 

Raffle Ticket Sales

Joe brought up the idea of a table to sell raffle tickets.  We will sell them on November 3rd, 10th, and 21st in the mornings only.  Sherry will put a sign-up sheet outside of her office. 

Boys and Girls Club

The club is looking for someone for their site in Amherst to install four pc’s and network them with the four current pc’s.  At the club in Stevens Point, they are looking for someone to teach the kids how to set up email accounts.  At the Tech Expo on November 12th, Steve is having a drop off that we can maybe use some of the items donated for the club.  An invite has been extended to all AITP members. 

Rummage Sale

Juli will call the Buyers Guide about signs.  Doug Spindler motioned to spend no more than $100.00 for advertising for the rummage sale and Helen Davis seconded.  Motion carried.  We discussed the selling of BBQ, chips, and soda at the rummage sale.  Juli Swenson moved to accept the purchase of food for the rummage sale and Helen Davis seconded.  Motion carried. 

October Bake Sale

The discussion was to have a bake sale revolving around Halloween.  The date discussed was October 27th.  Juli Swenson motioned to have the bake sale and was seconded by Helen Davis.  Motion carried. 

AITP Professional Meeting

The next AITP Professional meeting will be held Monday October 17, 2005 at Spiedini’s in Stevens Point.  The cost is $12.00. 

Next Meeting

There will be a special meeting next Monday, October 12, 2005 at 1:00 for rummage sale planning.  The next Student AITP meeting will be Monday, November 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. 

VII – Adjourn

The motion to adjourn was made by Doug Spindler and seconded by Ryan Schulfer.  The motion carried and the meeting adjourned.
