Meeting

Date:    9/26/2005         

Room: 163

In attendance: Joe Roppe, Doug Spindler, Brenda Davis, Helen Davis, Linda Ashmore, and Juli Swenson

I.                    The meeting was called to order by President Joe Roppe at 1:05.

II.                 Minutes were read (Mary not present) and approved by Juli, Seconded by Helen

III.               Treasurer’s Report was reviewed (Mary not present) and approved by Juli, Seconded by Brenda

IV.              Student Activities Board Report – SAB Representative were attending SAB meeting the first half hour, reported the second hour that due to squabbling, that organization is having many problems including the fact that one of their advisors resigned.

V.                 Old Business

a.       Welcome new members: none present at this meeting

b.       Quilt Raffle – Helen reported bank deposit of $200, most tickets are out being sold and purchase of 500 more tickets was discussed with Sherri

c.       Bake Sale Report – Helen reported we made $212.10 (10% of that goes to scholarship fund)

d.       Professional Meeting Report – Helen and Larissa went. Helen was allowed to sell raffle tickets at check in table. Excellent topic.

VI.              New Business

a.       Company Tour – Juli reported that Neenah paper in Whiting will allow us to tour their facilities on Friday November 4, 2005. No time announced. Motion to accept this date made by Linda, seconded by Helen

b.       Rummage Sale Planning – Joe looked into radio station ads, public service (15 second – 30 second) ads are free of charge. Juli looked at newspaper and buyers guide; bordered ads cost are prohibitive so we agreed on regular classified ads. Juli volunteered to do pricing, Helen will help put prices on if others tell what price. Need people to take leftover item to goodwill or St. Vincent’s….or will they pick up? Juli will check on this. We will advertise on campus here and on Rapids campus for items to be donated.  Who can look into the TV ads?

c.       Next Professional Meeting – October 17th Stevens Point

d.       Scholarship letter – Looked at wording of the scholarship letter with regards to the criteria

a.       Instead of “must have 3.5 GPA” have “preference given to higher GPA”

b.       Suggested “returning students who have completed 11 or more IT course credits” instead of 13

Motion was made by Brenda to bring this subject up for review at the next meeting. Seconded by Linda. Motion carried.

VII.            Motion to adjourn was made by Helen, seconded by Linda.  Motion carried.  The meeting was adjourned at 1:55.
