General Information on AITP

The Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) is a national professional association comprised of career minded individuals who seek to expand their potential -- employers, employees, managers, programmers, and many others. The organization seeks to provide avenues for all their members to be teachers as well as students and to make contacts with other members in the IT field. It is the mission of AITP to provide superior leadership and education in Information Technology. AITP is dedicated to using the synergy of Information Technology partnerships to provide education and benefits to our members and to working with the industry to assist in the overall promotion and direction of Information Technology. AITP members subscribe to a Code of Ethics as a standard that reminds us and binds us to the obligations that we hold as technology professionals. These ideals are principles that all members should hold as a basis for their everyday careers. (http://www.aitp.org/)

The Wisconsin River Valley Chapter of AITP includes IT managers, programmers, network specialists, recruiters, vendors, independent consultants, educators and students as well as many other professionals from the central Wisconsin area. Some of the organizations represented are Marshfield Clinic, Nelson Jameson, Marshfield Door, City of Marshfield, Marathon County, Wood County Telephone, Sentry Insurance, Stora Enso, Mid-State Technical College, UW-Stevens Point, North Central Technical College, Wausau Financial Services, Greenheck Fan, Liberty Mutual, Tombstone Pizza, Delta Dental, etc., etc. We have about 50 professional chapter members, work with five student chapters of AITP, and actively encourage guests to attend our meetings. The chapter meetings typically run about 40 people. Our chapter web page can be found at http://aitp-wrv.org.
